My Philosophy


Words I want my class room to be described as:
Open
Happy
Creative
Organized

I believe in a balance of freedoms and guidelines. I envision my learners being able to find comfort in having freedom and responsibility as well as rules and direction. 

I envision having creativity and imagination in my classroom, but not just for Art but Science, as well as all other subjects.

 

I envision the psychological climate of my classroom to be one of giving and receiving of respect and understanding. I want to be known for listening, kindness, and being willing to bounce ideas back and forth.  I want to encourage honest mistakes, because I think that making mistakes is part of learning. I also believe in respecting my learners enough to have reasonable expectations and goals.     

 

I believe that learners will thrive in this environment, based on the theories of the Growth Mindset, Zone of Proximal Development, and Bloom’s taxonomy.

 

Most of all, I want to learn from the learners in my classroom. I believe that you should always be learning no matter who you are, what your age, or your amount of schooling.
